Role of Social Media in Communication Crisis

Airplane crashes is becoming a serious issue lately in Nepal. The couple of crashes have resulted into number of deaths. In both the case, the aircrafts and the bodies were found soon enough. But if we try to remember the helicopter crash of June 2015, which was employed to supply the relief in Dolakha district, the chopper was missing for days.
Social media have recently been active in faster communication of news. Twitter and Facebook explode when something big as an accident occurs.  Before the development of social media, a realistic target was to issue a first “holding statement” within one hour of notification of an incident. So social media plays a greater role in this era during any communication crisis.

Here, I have attached a google form to collect data regarding the role of social media in communication crisis which will be helpful to know from the general public how any social media will be helpful in communication crisis. I have used the beam of the recent air-crashes for the data collection and also have tried to collect some recommendations regarding the mitigation of future-air-crashes in Nepal.

Tectonic Plate Movement in Dhulikhel, Nepal after the April 25, 2015

This blog contains a report which is prepared in the response of the Internship Fieldwork of Geomatics Engineering, Kathmandu University, which is a post earthquake study of April 25th, 2015 and includes the brief description on the procedure that was applied for the study of tectonic plate movement of Dhulikhel, Nepal using DGPS Survey. The procedure applied includes field observation, data downloading, datum transformation, selection of control point, definition of projection system, and computation of ground control, control points extraction and land survey report generation. 

The report includes the introduction as well as the terminologies that are required for the basic understanding and concept building of DGPS.
